Legendary Gospel Singer Dies
Jack A. Toney, 70, Ron Avenue, Boaz, Alabama died Thursday, April 15, 2004, at Marshall Medical Center South.
Services were Sunday, April 18, at Rowan-McRae Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. John Hull, O.A. Burton, Buddy Poe, and Charles Waller officiating.  Burial services followed at Whitesboro Cemetery with Rowan-McRae Funeral Home directing.
Born August 22, 1933, to Curt and Carrie Lee Jacobs Toney, Jack was a top gospel music entertainer for over 50 years.
Survivors include his wife Gail Nunn Toney of Boaz; daughter and son-in-law Cherie and Steve Bonar and two granddaughters Lauren and Alexandra of Missouri; sisters Ruth Duke of Boaz and Martha Taylor of Gadsden; chosen brother Eugene Bishop of Attalla; and special niece Allison Taylor of Gadsden.
Pallbearers were David Maddox, Glenn Smith, Jerry Candler, Eugene Bishop, Cotton Alexander, Beecher Hyde, Bill Hefner, and Robert Tankersley.  Honorary pallbearers were Jim Carswell, H.M. Freeman, Norris Evans, Buddy Poe, Buddy Burton, Roy Pauley, Charles Waller and Lionel Hammett.
