| The
Beulah Volunteer Fire Department originated in November of 1981 for the
sole purpose of fire protection and assistance of community needs.
It was formed by various men of the community. The very first fire
truck purchased by the Beulah Volunteer Fire Department was a 1958 Chevrolet
for the sum of $5,000 from Culpepper, Virginia. It is still in service
today. The tank truck being used today was put on loan by the State
Forestry Commission. The pump for the tanker was purchased for $400
and a bucket of syrup. In 1982, an International was bought for $1,500
and used as a brush truck. It was later sold to Kilpatrick Volunteer
Fire Department. The first fire house was located at the side of
Smith's Woodworks. It remained in service until January of 1987. |

| During 1986, the land
at the present location was purchased for the sum of $3,500. Thirty-five
people in the community donated $100 or more each to help purchase the
land. The department agreed to pay each person back but some refused
to take the money. The Fire Station was built in 1987 and provided
a much needed Community Center. The very first fire truck to be put
in the station was a red open cab donated by the Albertville Fire Department.
It was later sold to an individual. The department purchased a 1978
American LaFrance in 1993 and a brush truck in 1997. |

| The fund raisers in the
early years consisted of Jamborees, turkey shoots, yard sales, bake sales,
and cane patches for Sand Mountain Sorghum Syrup. The Ladies Auxiliary
was formed in 1982 to aid the fire department in purchasing equipment.
One of the biggest fund raisers today is the Harvest Festival held in Boaz,
Alabama each October. Other fund raisers include road blocks and
the annual chili supper held in January. The department also receives
a tobacco tax check issued by the State of Alabama each month and donations
throughout the year. |
